VILLA ANTONIA WEDDING | JONESTOWN, TEXAS | ISABEL + JEEIL

From the Beautiful Bride: We envisioned recreating that rustic, cozy atmosphere which reminded us of home on our wedding day. We drew inspiration from our gorgeous venue Villa Antonia and asked our florist Trisha from Visual Lyrics to create pieces that would complement the beautiful hill country setting. Without giving her much guidance, we were amazed at the different textures and level of detail she put into the centerpieces and arches.  The seamless blend of delicate flowers, lush greenery, and glowing candles was one of our favorite parts of the wedding.  She chose the perfect flowers that would reflect our story together. We had a blast working with Emily from Rosemary Catering to design a menu that incorporates samples of our Asian heritage and Texas favorites. After many yummy tastings, we chose marinated short ribs and miso cod with a side of Gouda mac-and-cheese, one of our all-time favorite comfort foods. The cake by Simon Lee featured three layers with different flavors and was the absolute masterpiece of the dessert table. Our wedding photographer Svetlana was extremely professional and engaging. She took the time to get to know us as a couple beforehand. She has a unique perspective on events and is a true artist. We were thrilled with the timeless result.

How and when did you two meet? What made you fall for each other?

I moved to New York City upon graduating college and we met at work shortly after. We spent days hanging out in the various cafes and parks of NYC enjoying each other’s company. His love of cold weather compared to my tropical upbringing initially made us appear opposites in life, but his humor and relaxed vibe made me realize that we had a lot in common.

How did he propose?

Both of us wanted to return to our beloved city Paris to sample French cuisine and pastries all day. We spent ten magnificent days wandering around the different arrondissements being inspired by the culture and arts. On the last day, he surprised me with a day trip to Giverney to visit Monet’s house. He proposed in the sunny gardens surrounded by the famous water lilies.

How did the wedding unfold?

Guests were greeted on a sunny afternoon with a colorful fruit spread and the sounds of angelic harp strings. As the ceremony neared, guests were ushered onto the terrace decorated with sweeping branches and overreaching ferns. During the ceremony which was conducted by the couple’s close friend, jokes were told and hand-written vows were exchanged. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails in the butterfly garden before dinner in the wine cellar. Over dinner, guests were treated to a buffet of marinated short ribs and miso cod. The couple cut their chocolate and strawberry cake and performed their first dance to Diana Krall. After sharing stories and laughter over dessert, guests headed to the chapel where they danced to a mix of tunes spun by a DJ under the beautiful Texas night sky.
