Another beautiful wedding at Villa Antonia. It is such a gorgeous venue and a photographer’s dream! I am so grateful that Danielle and Vance chose me to photograph their wedding. It was great seeing these two beautiful people so much in love. Enjoy the photos and read the couple’s love story below.

How and when did you two meet?
Vance and I met in college. We both studied at SMU (Southern Methodist University). We took a Meterology class together sophomore year when Vance “noticed” me. I don’t recall seeing Vance but he definitely remembered me and could name a bunch of the events that took place in that class. Vance asked me out a couple times but I was always dating another guy so I kept telling him no. He was persistent though and right after our graduation (Literally that same night) I decided to give him a chance. We both say we fell for each other over the summer we first started dating. Things between us just worked. We didn’t have to try.
How did he propose?
Well it all started about a week before the actual proposal… Vance told me I had to be up at 6am on Saturday because he had something planned. Since I teach and I am up at the crack of dawn everyday this did NOT seem exciting to me. I agreed and Saturday morning arrived. We got in his car and drove an hour and half out to Glenn Rose Texas where Fossil Rim Wildlife Ranch is located. This was one of our first date spots. I LOVE animals and we drove here about 2 years prior. It is an interactive animal ranch where you drive through and feed all different types of wildlife. There are rhinos, ostriches, emus, deer, zebras, giraffes, and so much more! As soon as we pulled up I kind of knew something was up… He told me that he got us a private “up close and personal” tour of the ranch. This tiny white truck pulled up and we met our tour guide. We were able to hand-feed the rhinos and see some of the animals from a much different perspective. We finally arrived to the giraffe “yard” where giraffes are just roaming wild. They are so humungous in real life. Our tour guide parked the car in the middle of this “yard” and told the two of us to hop in the flatbed of the truck so if the giraffes came by we could feed them (since they are too tall and too hard to reach just standing). It was incredible! We started to feed one of the older female giraffes when suddenly Vance started talking (sounding very nervous) and telling me how it had been about a year and half since we last visited and how it has been the best year and half of his life. He got down on one knee and proposed on the flatbed of the truck with the giraffe right there! We have a photo of the giraffe bending down with her face at our level! It was super awesome and I was NOT expecting to be proposed to in such a thoughtful and unexpected way!
Do you have any tips for couples planning their wedding?
If I were to give anyone tips I would recommend to worry about yourself and your husband and make your wedding YOUR special day. I think a lot of brides, myself included, get so worried about pleasing other people we tend to forget about what we want!
Another recommendation for couples is to definitely find a photographer that takes the time to get to know you. I could not have asked for a better photographer! Photographs are something you can have forever and will reflect on every once in a while to “re-live the day.” While all the other vendors ARE important, a photograph is timeless. Svetlana did a fabulous job and she is a great person! I am so glad I got to know her and her work. Whenever I have an excuse for photographs in the future I will definitely be calling her!!
What are your day jobs/hobbies?
I teach second grade in a Title 1 school with students who have a lower SES (socio economic status). Vance works for Mercer in compensation consulting. My hobby is cooking and baking! I love to cook and bake and do it every Sunday for a group of friends! Vance’s hobby is definitely sports. He literally knows anything and everything that has some tie to sports!
