ELEGANT WHITE WEDDING AT VILLA DEL LAGO | AUSTIN WEDDING

Ghazaleh and Rex met a few years ago in college at a party that Rex’s fraternity was putting on. Upon graduation, Rex enlisted in the Marines, but he and Ghazaleh always kept in touch. They said that “they both knew something special was there” even though they never said anything out loud. Their bond goes deeper than words. At long last, the couple became husband and wife at their elegant white wedding held at Villa del Lago in Austin, Texas. “I wanted white everything”, the bride said, “I was debating on adding a hint of color, but I knew that wasn’t me”.

How and when did you two meet? When did you know he/she was “the one”?

We originally met at Rex’s fraternity party in college and just hit it off. Once Rex joined the Marines, we kept in touch constantly. We both knew there was something special there, but never talked about it. It’s almost as if we just knew this was it.

Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?

I wouldn’t say it was super romantic, but I would say it was funny. There was definitely a change of plans. Originally, Rex had plans for us to go skydive the next morning – which I was not aware of at the time. The plan was to jump out of the plane and land in front of a huge banner that said “Will you marry me”? That would have been romantic, but that wasn’t our story. The night before, we were hanging at home before we were going to go out with his friends. I was laying on the couch with a headache so Rex came and sat right next to me. He starts explaining to me about how much he loves me, etc. Then he acted like he caught a cramp in his leg so he kneeled on the floor because of his “leg”, but then I noticed he was down on one knee and grabbed a small little box from under the couch…and there it was, our proposal.

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?

I always knew I wanted an elegant feel at my wedding. I wanted white everything. I was debating on adding a hint of color, but I knew that wasn’t me. I envisioned white flowers in tall vases and candles. Something about candles gives off that romantic feel and I wanted just that.

What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your wedding?

Picking out the venue!! Once I booked my dream venue, everything else fell into place.

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?

Then most magical part of our wedding was walking down the aisle and seeing Rex turn around and face me. At that moment, all I could think about was how lucky I was to marry my best friend.

Did you have a special song that you danced to as your first dance? How did you choose it?

Yes! We danced to “In case you didn’t know” by Brett Young. We had another song planned, but then this song came out. I couldn’t think of a song more perfect that fit our relationship. He talks about loving her for a long time, but not always saying it.

Do you have any tips for couples planning their wedding?

Have fun with it! Planning a wedding is such an exciting time so don’t get wrapped up in the stress of it all. Wedding plan will get as stressful as you make it, so don’t. Just remember, it’s YOUR wedding. Plan what you two want to plan. Listen to opinions of others, but at the end of the day, make your own decisions about everything.

Make sure you knock out the vendors that are most important to you first! That will alleviate all of the stress. We knew our photos were a huge part of our wedding. After we booked our venue, we reached out to Svetlana right away – our photos were the most important part of our wedding and I knew if I didn’t get Svetlana, I wouldn’t be a happy bride. J

What are your day jobs/hobbies?

Rex and I both work for Dell. When we aren’t sitting behind computer screens, we like to go on runs together and have movie nights at the house.
