Elizabeth and Stephen’s summer wedding was held at St David’s Episcopal church followed by reception at The Mansion, an elegant, historic venue in the heart of Austin. There were so many heartfelt emotions throughout the day. One of my favorites was the one of Stephen reading a six month journal that Elizabeth gave him instead of a letter, right before the ceremony. So touching! These two are so in love and perfect for each other! Scroll down for the photos of this beautiful navy and coral wedding and for the couple’s love story. And be sure to take a look at their fun engagement session here
Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration? We were not afraid of color and with a July wedding date, wanted the color scheme to be summery. Stephen’s favorite color is navy and really wanted him and the groomsmen to be in navy. I have always loved the color coral (my bedroom throughout college and on into my adult years was inspired by the color coral). After a few searches on Pinterest we picked a few inspiration photos in the colors navy and coral and it just took off from there.
What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your wedding? The way it allowed us to work as a team. We are both engineers and thrive in organization. Each night we discussed any updates from the day and planned what needed to be done in the upcoming days. July 8th was a true reflection of us and our work together.
Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical? Our first dance. The rush was over and we were able to just enjoy our time together. We had practiced our dance many times, but this time, we both knew that we had nailed it and were completely in-sync! From that point forward, we just had a blast together dancing the night away.
Did you have a special song that you danced to as your first dance? How did you choose it? We bonded over our love for country music. When it came time to pick a first dance song, it was very easy for us. Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man” was a no brainer.
Do you have any tips for couples planning their wedding?
We lived by the Google Doc wedding planning template. Guest list, vendor info, schedule, everything went in the spreadsheet and then all we had to do was share with our coordinator and moms! Everyone has live access to the details at all times.
Were you happy with Svetlana Photography?
We have received many compliments on our wedding photos by Svetlana! She was amazing to work with and really captured all of the emotions of the day and kept up with our crazy group. We especially love the one of our reflections in the limo window!
What are your day jobs/hobbies?
Stephen is an account manager for GE Healthcare and is an avid runner. I work as a product development engineer for a small medical device company and enjoy yoga. I still take weekly flute lessons so I can continue to enjoy playing new music. We love exploring our new home in Austin with our Australian Shepard puppy, Bentley, trying new restaurants, and hiking.
